Meet Joby. Joby has had a hard time. Please read his info after you stare in to those gorgeous eyes. Please consider donating to help this sweet boy turn his life around.

UPDATE ON JOBY  :9/27/2024 At Joby’s first vet appointment, blood work showed severe anemia and we opted to hold off on surgery to amputate his leg which was twisted and deformed from abuse. He was treated for his flea infestation and given a good diet for the last couple of weeks. Today his blood work is good and he’s gained 4 pounds!!!! So, we’ll now schedule him for surgery. He will remain in the custody of Southern Tier Animal Control until his surgery is completed β€οΈπŸ™β€οΈπŸ™β€οΈπŸ™β€οΈπŸΎπŸΎπŸΎ Thank you to all who donated to make this possible πŸ’—

Seeking help once again. This is Joby. While the mystery surrounding Joby is still being untangled, one thing we do know is he suffered a severe blunt force injury believed to be a kick. Joby was kicked so hard it displaced his kneecap to the back of his leg and dislodged his hip. This injury has gone untreated for weeks to months as his angled leg, with his twisted lower half hanging, started to heal in this bent and awkward position. He then was taken by another individual who’s goal was to get him help, but ended up dragging him around Elmira for days looking for help before ending up in the hands of a good Samaritan and offered a soft place to land at Southern Tier Animal Control while we figured out how to best help.

An exam and x-rays were done by Home Veterinary Care staff. Several small punctures were found along with the leg injury, he is covered in fleas and flea dirt and has parasites including tape worms. Blood was drawn and sent out and we will be treating for anything that arises. After several days on meds and getting stable, Joby will be going for a leg amputation Tuesday, as well as a neuter. We are looking for any donations towards his surgery and follow up treatment. Because he will be having treatment in two different places, we are asking for funds to be sent directly to STAC and each agency will be paid directly. Thank you in advance. We also will accept prayers for Joby in his journey to health. πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™

UPDATE: Surgery will have to be delayed as blood work returned and showed Joby is quite anemic. It’s believed it is a result of the flea infestation, so hopefully an easy fix. He will be tested again in two weeks and hopefully will be feeling better and his body will be more ready for a big surgery. We are hopeful a medical foster has been found so he can recuperate in a quiet atmosphere. Thank you all who have already donated towards his care. We will keep you updated
